Heather G. Anderson was born in Humboldt, Tennessee and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee where she was Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her law degree from the University of Memphis School of Law and while there, received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy as well as worked on the Tennessee Journal of Practice & Procedure. In her time practicing, Heather has represented clients ranging in size from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. She has the rare distinction of being named a Top 40 Under 40 attorney in two cities and regions in the state, the Knoxville Business Journal and the Memphis Business Journal. Heather’s commitment to the law and her clients makes an impact wherever she goes.
After graduating from law school, she practiced for 5 years at Young & Perl, PLC, a labor and employment defense boutique firm. From 1998-2003, she represented several Fortune 500 companies and traveled extensively to various federal courts, conducted Human Resources assessments, wage and hour audits, employment-based discrimination investigations and training. In 2002, Heather received the Memphis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2002.
In 2003, Heather moved to Knoxville and practiced with Howard & Howard, P.C. for ten years handling various litigation matters on behalf of clients. Before forming Miller Anderson Law Group with Mary Miller, Heather practiced at Reeves, Herbert & Anderson, P.A. with now United States District Judge Pamela Reeves.

In 2012, the Greater Knoxville Business Journal named her as a Top 40 Under 40 also. Since 2013, Heather’s articles on Business Law have been featured by the Knoxville News Sentinel every other month. Her articles are posted on the blog page of this website.
She is an active member of the Tennessee Bar Association and Knoxville Bar Association, and the East Tennessee Lawyers’ Association of Women. She is a 2007 member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law Class. Currently, Heather serves as the co-chair of the Fundraising Committee on the Foundation Board for the Sertoma Center, a non-profit which serves adults with intellectual disabilities and recently completed three years of service on the Board of Directors of another local non-profit, the YWCA Knoxville. Heather also serves on the Board of Directors for the Public Building Authority of Knox County and Knoxville, TN at the appointment of Mayor Tim Burchett.
Heather has been named by SuperLawyers as a Rising Star for many years and named by CityView as a Top Attorney in Employment Law for multiple years as well. AVVO has rated her as a Top Attorney in Litigation, Employment, Construction Law, Family Law and Real Estate. In 2015 she also received the AVVO Clients’ Choice Award in those same fields.
